World Pharmacists Day 2026
This World Pharmacists Day, with the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for healthier futures”, Pharmacy Forum asked the profession to speak for itself: to give a peer shout-out to a pharmacist who they admire or feel inspired by, and who deserves to be recognised.
What came back was a brilliant collection of people, roles, careers and stories. Pharmacists from community, hospital, primary care, academia, industry, regulation and policy. People at very different stages of their careers, doing very different jobs, who would otherwise be unlikely to find themselves in the same room. Yet when you read why they were nominated there is one striking common thread: they made, or make, a difference.
These are not examples of individual achievement. Collectively they tell a story about the profession’s culture, skill, reach and influence.
Pharmacists can sometimes fail to see the full value of their work as they practise in very different environments. The responses form a rich mosaic, reminding us of just how broad, diverse and interconnected our profession is.
