Pharmacy Forum Publishes New Guidance on Dispensing and Supply or Administration by the Same Pharmacist
Pharmacy Forum NI is pleased to announce the publication of new professional guidance to support safe and effective pharmacist prescribing across Northern Ireland.
Developed by the Forum’s Policy and Practice Committee and ratified by the Forum's Management Board, the guidance seeks to clarify good professional practice where the same pharmacist is responsible for both prescribing and the dispensing, supply or administration of medicines.
As prescribing roles continue to expand, the guidance takes a proactive approach to identifying and managing potential risks, supporting professional standards and promoting patient safety.
Applicable across all pharmacy settings in Northern Ireland, it aims to provide a shared understanding of good practice for pharmacists, employers, commissioners and other key stakeholders.
The publication reflects Pharmacy Forum NI’s ongoing commitment to professional leadership and supporting the safe evolution of pharmacy services.
