The UK Pharmacy Professional Leadership Advisory Board (UKPPLAB) has published a landmark document, the Concordat for Delivery, setting out the next steps towards creating a more inclusive Royal College of Pharmacy by 2030.
This marks a significant milestone for pharmacy professional leadership across the UK and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the profession for the benefit of patients, the public, and everyone working within pharmacy.

Why This Matters
Professional leadership plays a vital role in shaping the future of pharmacy. It influences how the profession is recognised by healthcare partners, policymakers, the public, and those working within it every day.
As healthcare continues to evolve, it is essential that pharmacy professionals are supported to develop their practice, adapt to changing demands, and continue delivering high-quality patient care.
The Concordat for Delivery
Signed by the leaders of the seven pharmacy professional leadership organisations represented on the UKPPLAB, the Concordat for Delivery:
Reaffirms a shared commitment to creating a single, more inclusive Royal College of Pharmacy over time, subject to consultation with members.
Demonstrates a collective ambition to build a Royal College that is inclusive in its membership, representation and governance, while delivering greater impact for the profession and the public.
Marks the transition of responsibility from the UKPPLAB which was established as a transitional body to the pharmacy professions themselves, who will now lead this work collaboratively.
Four Key Commitments
The organisations have agreed to focus on four key priorities as this work progresses:
Embedding a shared vision by adopting the Board's Vision and Common Purpose for Pharmacy Professional Leadership, ensuring collaboration, inclusivity and unity remain at the heart of the future Royal College.
Developing a new strategy through close engagement with pharmacy professionals, patients, the public and other key stakeholders to shape an ambitious vision for the future.
Creating an inclusive professional home by following a three-stage inclusion process, with the aim of welcoming pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmaceutical scientists, trainees and students from across the UK into the Royal College. This process will be supported by ongoing consultation and member engagement.
Maintaining collaboration during transition by establishing arrangements for the first year of the Royal College through the formation of APEX and the new CCLG, hosted by the Royal College.
