Philip Boyle

After graduating with a Pharmacy degree from Queen’s University Belfast, Philip completed his pre-registration training with FJ Murray in Belfast and gained experience as an assistant pharmacist in Newry before returning to Belfast to work for Paul Cooper. He later took up his first managerial role in the Lenadoon branch and, in 1997, became manager of Crossgar Pharmacy, a position he continues to hold.

Alongside his community pharmacy role, Philip has served as a sessional Practice Pharmacist and has been actively involved in community health initiatives, delivering talks to local groups and contributing to professional and healthcare organisations. Philip played a key role in the 2006 Electronic Prescribing and Eligibility System (EPES) pilot, helping to shape the development of electronic prescription transmission in Northern Ireland.

Philip has led and participated in numerous pharmacy projects, including work with MindWise to support people experiencing mental health difficulties. Currently serving as Down ICP Pharmacy Lead, Philip has contributed to initiatives such as the Caring for Carers service and dementia education programmes. He also supported the 2016 Community Pharmacy Intervention Survey and was a guest speaker at its launch event. Throughout his career, Philip has remained committed to promoting health, wellbeing and active ageing, earning the Pharmacy in Focus Award on two occasions.
