Sheelin registered as a pharmacist with the PSNI in 1991 and is the currently the representative for community pharmacy on the Rebalancing Legislation Programme Board.

Sheelin is a past Chair of CPNI and Chairman of the Southern Local Commissioning Group, a sub-committee of the Health and Social Care Board. He practises as a community pharmacist in Lurgan.

Sheelin was elected to the Pharmacy Forum NI Board in September 2015 and has been Chair of the Forum since 2016.
