On 6th February 2022 Pharmacy Forum NI responded to the release of a report[i] on the future of pharmacy professional leadership in the UK.

The report, produced by the UK Commission on Pharmacy Professional Leadership[ii] laid out five recommendations for the future of leadership for pharmacy professionals throughout the four nations.

Whilst both staff and Forum members have participated in the work of the Commission as individuals, now that the report has been published, the Forum Board will take time to consider its findings and recommendations in consultation with its membership.

Chair of the PFNI Board, Eamon O’Donnell, said:

“The Forum broadly welcomes the direction of travel of the Commission’s recommendations, namely a collaborative approach to leadership across the UK to maximise our impact and amplify the voice of pharmacy.

“We look forward to working with the other Professional Leadership Bodies and Special Professional Groups to take this onto the next stage when we have all had time to consider our separate responses.

“The Forum will always seek to work in the best interests of both pharmacy professionals and patients. As the professional leadership body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland we will ensure that our response to this report reflects the views of our membership and the devolved nature of healthcare here.”
