The All-Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Chamber has produced a report showing that many pharmacies across Ukraine have been forced to shut down or have been fully destroyed. Where pharmacies are still able to operate, pharmacists put their life at risk to continue to fulfil their mission in providing patient care. However, there is an acute shortage of medicines.
The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) which represents community pharmacy across Europe has released a statement (9 March 2022) calling for guaranteed continued access to medicines to all those affected by the current ongoing war and to establish with the highest priority safe humanitarian corridors to allow essential medical equipment to reach conflict zones.
Pharmacy Forum NI as a longstanding member of the PGEU, supports this call.
