Workshop for Community & General Practice Pharmacists: WHO Third Global Patient Safety Challenge - Medication Without Harm
Agreeing our Commitments – Workshop for community and general practice pharmacists.
The Department of Health (DoH) is leading the development of a strategic response plan to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Third Global Patient Safety Challenge ‘Medication Without Harm’. The overall goal of the Challenge is to reduce severe, avoidable medication-related harm globally by 50% over the next 5 years. A symposium was held by the DoH on the 29th November 2018 in Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey to launch the WHO Challenge in Northern Ireland and obtain views and insights from a wide range of stakeholders to help develop our response.
Information gathered from this event and other existing medicines safety work aligned to the Medicines Optimisation Quality Framework has led to the development of specific commitments that aim to address the requirements of the WHO Challenge for Northern Ireland.
The DoH is currently consulting on these commitments and would like to invite community and general practice pharmacists to an evening workshop, hosted by the Pharmacy Forum NI on Monday 12th August (7-9pm) at Society House, 73 University Street, Belfast.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about WHO’s Global Patient Safety Challenge and contribute to the strategic focus for medication safety within Northern Ireland.
